Food insecurity in Fairfax, Virginia, is a growing problem. With rising living costs, many families struggle to make ends meet and put food on the table. How serious is this issue? The Fairfax County Department of Family Services reports that over 20,000 households are food insecure, meaning they lack access to enough nutritious food to lead a healthy lifestyle. This is especially concerning for children, as they are more likely to experience hunger and its associated health risks. To combat this issue, our agency will continue to support Food for Others and its mission to ensure that all residents have access to nutritious food.
